American Consumer Tests is dedicated to bringing readers reliable, independent information on beauty and makeup, from skincare basics to detailed product reviews. Our aim is straightforward: to help you look and feel good, with honest reporting rather than promotion. We believe that beauty is about more than appearance, it is also about confidence and feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Every product we cover is bought anonymously from a pharmacy, a beauty retailer or an online shop, exactly as a reader would buy it. Nobody pays for a mention or a good result, and we do not accept free products from manufacturers for the items we test.

How our findings are checked

Before a report is published, the results are reviewed by an independent panel that includes a dermatologist, a cosmetic chemist and a pharmacist. Each member checks the findings relevant to their own field, from skin safety to formulation and ingredient safety, before a test is signed off for publication.

Corrections and suggestions

If you believe we have made an error, or if there is a product or category you think we should test, we want to hear about it. You can reach the editorial team through our contact page, and genuine corrections are reviewed and, where warranted, published as an update.
